Jenni Olson is a San Francisco-based filmmaker whose unique films include the award-winning feature THE JOY OF LIFE (an urban landscape essay film investigating the history of suicide and the Golden Gate Bridge alongside intimate reflections on butch identity and desire); and the experimental short, 575 CASTRO ST. which was shot on the empty set of Gus Van Sant's MILK and features the original archival audio recorded by Harvey Milk to be played in the event of his assassination. Jenni's latest project, THE ROYAL ROAD (an official selection of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival), explores the history of the Spanish colonization of California and the Mexican American War while reflecting on nostalgia, butch identity, unavailable women and Alfred Hitchcock's VERTIGO — all against a backdrop of stunning 16mm California landscapes (and featuring a voiceover cameo by Tony Kushner).
