J. Kevin Swain's Bio

Emmy and Grammy nominated director J. Kevin Swain is one of the most versatile Producer/Directors in music related content, concert films, and television production. Over his almost twenty (20) years in the entertainment business, Swain has produced projects with some of the biggest names in the industry. Past clients include AEG, Allstate Insurance, LVMH, BET, Centric, YouTube, MTV (NY, Africa & Brazil),LVMH, Nigerian Breweries. Centric, TV-One, Lexus, MySpace, Eagle Rock Productions, Paramount Studios, Bravo, HBO, Oxygen Network, Sony, Interscope Records, Warner Brothers Records, Universal Records, Island-Def Jam, Columbia Records, Aftermath Records, McDonalds, Rush Communications and Pepsi-Cola Company, among others. A few years ago, Swain left MTV after three years as Senior Producer to form his own production company, Nature Boy Productions.

The late Don Cornelius was fittingly profiled in Swain’s production of, “The Hippest Trip In America-Soul Train. “ The Hippest Trip” features Soul music legends Aretha Franklin, Sly Stone, the late Teddy Pendegrass, Don Cornelius and many others. He is currently producing the gospel music special ,“The King’s Men” as well as a feature length documentary on Brazilian music and culture. His recent Directing credits include Grammy Award Winning Artists Alicia Keys, Kirk Franklin, Wynton Marsalis, John Legend, and ‘the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul’, Mary J. Blige. Swain was one of the directors of the wildly successful series, “Being Bobby Brown” for Bravo.
