After nearly two decades in Africa — where she moonlighted as a photographer for Reuters and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation while designing HIV prevention interventions — Joan returned to Québec in 2007 to dedicate her second 50 years to documenting climate change in North America. Currently, she is the only female photographer in Canada shooting the construction and expansion of renewable energy in the context of climate change. Joan is presently working with broadcast journalist Susan Woodfine on a documentary film edgequebec.net about climate change along the Saint Lawrence River, with generous funding from the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN). In her spare time, Joan grows organic garlic with her husband and daughter. Visit her photo website: joansullivanphotography.com
