Born in Germany, raised in Madison, Wisconsin, Joel Peissig has made films since he was twelve years old. From the darkened basement dioramas to hoisting a friends car before Joel had a license to drive. Joel has always done what it takes to "get the shot". From his early days at 21 years old at BBDO New York when he was art directing his first national commercial for Visa to creating an entire world around the relaunch of the Lexus GS with the now multiple award winning "Something Wicked This Way Comes".
Joel has always pushed past the boundaries of possibilities and the common "but, we've never done that before" to create stunning, evocative images that burst from their commercial context. This is exactly what Ridley Scott saw in Joel's very first commercial "Better Than Oxygen" and asked him to join his production company of directors.
Since then Joel has helmed 100's of productions in every corner of the globe and all the while doing everything it takes to create compelling stories and beautiful images for brands like Vodafone, LG, Yamaha, BMW, Budweiser, Pocari, Suzuki, and Philips to name just a few. Having spent 10 years working day to day in the trenches of creative departments he has a knowing respect for every great script he sees. The most recent great script came from Showtime Networks for the launch campaign of “Homeland” a series starring Claire Danes and Damien Lewis.
When Joel isn't on a plane, in an edit bay or on set in a far off location he lives and creates in the hills over looking Hollywood or escaping to his home in Northern Michigan.
