Born in 1977 in Tehran, Iran, Kiarash Anvari began his artistic career in 1998 when he started to create and produce short films, documentaries and video art pieces which were screened and exhibited in prestigious national and international festivals and cultural centers around the world. His short films were also nominated for several awards at prestigious national and international festivals.
Anvari graduated with BA in Film & Television Production from Soureh University of Tehran and holds an MA in Film Studies from University of Provence (Aix-Marseille I). He has continued her Ph.D. in Film philosophy at the Philosophy Department of the latter university.
He was selected to participate to the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2004 and had workshops with acclaimed filmmakers such as Wim Wenders, Antony Mingella and Walter Murch. The same year, he was invited to the Berlin Academy of Arts (Akademie der Kunste) Young Artists Residency Program to participate in a series of workshops and screenings of his films.
In addition to his film career, he has also been involved professionally in photography, performance art and stage acting since 1999 and accumulated experience by working with Iranian well-known stage director.
He is the permanent member of the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) since 2005 and the permanent member of the Société Des Auteurs & Compositeurs Dramatiques (SCAM) since 2010.
