Reflexions on modern architecture in independent India

This film gives us a first hand recollection of Lucien Hervé’s collaboration with modern architect Le Corbusier.

Hervé revives the memory of Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier’s cousin and long time collaborator, and depicts him as a fine architect and urban planner primarily focussed on the human needs of the Indian people.

The French architecture photographer Lucien Hervé reflects upon his friendship with Le Corbusier and his work in India. He ponders on the architect's only fully realised urban design, the plan and architecture for the new Indian city of Chandigarh (1950) - created by independent India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru (1889-1964) as ..."an expression of the nation’s faith in the future."
