Mathias Walter is a French filmmaker and cinematographer.
After studying American literature and cinema, Mathias worked as a fashion photographer for ten years. His work was featured in French Elle, WE, Madame Figaro and Lucky Magazine and appeared in advertising campaigns by Publicis, DDB, Saatchi & Saatchi, for brands such as Dior, Chantal Thomass, Paule Ka, Nikon, Sisley. His interest in cinema grew during this time as he experimented with mixing cinematographic and photographic techniques...
In 2004, he created a magazine, le printfolio, featuring his photographs and texts from other authors.
Mathias turned to documentary filmmaking in 2009 with Cinderella's Dream, a behind-the-scenes look at the world of fashion modeling. The same year, he wrote and directed a 35mm short film called Fatale. In 2011 he made his second short film, Saudade, about memory and melancholia, who was selected at "Côté Court" short film festival in Pantin in June 2012. In 2014, he attended les Ateliers Varan, a well known school for documentary in the style of "cinéma du réél".
