Michal Wilczek is an award winning independent filmmaker and photographer, who has spent the last 7 years of his life working professionally on HDV, HD-CAM and DSLR cameras. For the last 3 years he has specialized in creating film-like images with low budget video, while filming on Canon DSLR's fitted with L / Manual lenses and editing in the Final Cut environment.
Photography, his second love, started with his fathers Canon AF-1 and was fueled by his brothers enthusiasm for stills. 7 years later he shoots both on Canon and Nikon full-frame DSLRS and works on Adobe software, with a particular drive for portraits, documentaries and action photography. His recent work can be found on his Flickr and ViewBug profiles.
Mikee, as his friends and family call him, has done projects in countries including China, Poland, Malawi, Macau, Ukraine and in the USA, for companies like Good Year, Fair Trade and Luxoft.
During this time he has gained recognition as a young film maker by winning the Sukuma Millennium Award (2009 - script), the OFF CAMERA PLUS FESTIVAL - MERCEDES "SAY A" (2012 - Jury Award, shared with journalist Matt Zuchowski) and has been listed amongst "30 before 30 - They Will Change Poland" shortlist created by MALEMAN.
As for photography, Michal takes part in many international competitions. Some of his recent successes include winning The Rolls Royce Rankin Spirit of Ecstasy Award (2012 - Portrait), Viewbug's Fantasy Photo Contest (2012) and Chopin's Poland (2011 - Street Art).
His diverse work including documentaries, short-film, commercials and music videos can be experienced on his Youtube and Vimeo accounts.
Mikee cooperates on projects with Radosław Kotarski, supports LIFELINE MALAWI and STUDIO1, with whom he has already gained recognition by Discovery Channel, T3 Magazine and for their recent cooperation on "WIZJA LOKALNA ZMC" - a social hip-hop documentary.
He is an avid Fallout and retro video game fan that enjoys basketball, fishing and traveling.
