01 - Federal Weser

Welcome to the close-knit community of Mitchell’s Bay Ontario, right on shores of Lake St. Clair in Southern Ontario. Lake St. Clair is actually located further south than a good number of States in the U.S. – and, along with three of the Great Lakes, forms the border between Ontario and Michigan – which, as we’ll talk about later – has both benefits and a few extra things to prepare for.

The title of the show references a massive 1000-foot international shipping boat that zoomed past our honey hole.

If you're looking for the amazing episode where a largemouth went topwater hunting for duck... this is the episode!

02 - Getting it in Gear

This was probably one of our most anticipated fall fishing trips of the season. For one, it was an exotic location in having to launch on Lake Nipigon, travel the big lake and then find the mouth of the Sturgeon River. Once in the river it was a gorgeous early morning boat ride up stream through all the bends and rays of morning sunlight as we cut through the rivers rising mist; truly a spectacular site for a couple of excited anglers.

03 - Scarback

Fishing for Northern Pike in the spring is normally associated with ice-out ravenous action that can be absolutely insane! Lets face it, after a long cold winter the big girls need to eat and then get busy with the spawn. Unfortunately this time period only lasts a short time which is followed by the spawn and then the dreaded post spawn. This was the exact time that Pete was shooting this episode.

04 - Great Balls of Bait

This episode on Lake Temagami is an incredible wilderness treat. The area has become a legend for hikers, paddlers, campers… but especially for anglers. Part of the appeal is the rugged terrain, where massive cliffs plunge deep into the lake, while a long and varied shoreline presents habitat for a number of species of sportfish.

05 - Dammed If You Do

This Fish’n Canada episode heads back to Saskatchewan’s Boundary Dam Reservoir for some great Largemouth Bass fishing. Pete Bowman is joined by Keith Beasley from the great hunting show Canada In The Rough. Fans of Fish’n Canada will remember Pete and Keith fishing this same body of water on a previous episode. This time though they put away the Jig & Pigs with heavy line and bring out the Wacky rigged 5″ Yamamoto Senkos on light spinning gear, just to try something different.

Right out of the gate we would like to say we are extremely happy with our re-discovery of fishing in Alberta. In the past they were always top notch in the trout category with the Bow River being one of Canada’s most spectacular fisheries. However once we found out about their Walleye and Pike fishing, wow have our eyes been opened up.

07 - Fishing The Lost Villages

This show was a treat for Ang & Pete to shoot. They are totally sold on the whole “Carp should be considered a Sport Fish” concept and now actually preach it to those in doubt.
Their home base for the shoot was in Cornwall Ontario, a very fishing oriented community on the St Lawrence River. Our guys know this area pretty well for Smallmouth Bass.
Angelo states “this is one of the best Smallie fisheries that I… and I sure I speak for Pete as well, have ever fished”.
“As well, it’s an awesome Walleye, Largemouth and Muskie area as well” says Pete.
The fishing for this shoot however is just up-river from Cornwall in a place called Long Sault ON, which incidentally is touted as the Carp Capital of Canada… and justifiably so! Thousands of British anglers have tasted the great waters along the Long Sault and almost all of them are return customers… that is great tourism!

08 - Swimming with the Salmon

This was a highly anticipated episode for Angelo and Pete.
Backing up about a year ago, a gentleman named Jamie Turko from Destiny River Adventures contacted Fish’n Canada to see if we would be interested in filming a Salmon show in Campbell River BC. He guaranteed us this would be different from anything we had shot in the past. Of course, we were all ears with a definite perked interest.
Once Jamie gave us the “adventure” aspect of what Destiny does, we were immediately sold.

09 - Iced In

This show was quite interesting right from the get-go. The spring to summer transition of 2013 in Ontario was rather elongated to say the least. The cool weather just wouldn’t go away. In fact, just days prior to Pete’s departure on his long drive north, he wasn’t a hundred percent sure he could even go.
“I stayed closely in touch with Eric Lund at Esnagami Wilderness Lodge a full 2 weeks before my leaving day” says Pete “and right up until the day before, Eric finally said the ice is leaving the lake and we SHOULD be ok”.

For this episode Angelo and Pete relive a couple of blasts from the past. Going back to June 14 & 15th of 1986 our boys made their way to Lac St Pierre in the town of Contrecoeur Quebec. They were fishing what was at that time the only Draw style tournament in the country (2 people fish out of the same boat but are against each other along with the rest of the entire field) held by East Coast Pro Bass.

11 - The Great Race

Here’s a Fish’n Canada shoot in a “do or die” situation for you. Back at the office Ang and Pete were having a rather concerned production meeting about the constantly changing shooting schedule and how they were going to pull off the last episode of the season.

They had only one opening in the calendar that was situated in the early fall… otherwise it was another cold shoot to deal with.

Add to the drama, they only had a day and a bit to get everything done. Now if this sounds easy to you then you don’t know how we work. We have heard of our other fishing shows shooting one or more full episodes in a day.

Not Fish'n Canada.

We pride ourselves on not only getting the fishing portion just right, but everything else, from interviews to lodge shots to landscape to time-lapse etc. We look at it as a full production.

12 - At Ease, General

This episode was one of our favourites of the season because it showed a lot more than just fishing. This was about the flavour of Newfoundland; it’s landscape and especially it’s people! To be honest we have “never” come across any negativity when the subject of Newfoundlanders comes up. They simply are the salt of the earth.

13 - Trips Are For Kids

This is our final episode of the 2013/14 season and we left it that way for a reason. It was a long time in the “we should do this” process and it finally came to fruition!
It’s an episode including Pete’s 2 boys Hunter and Cole as well as Angelo’s grandson Nik.
This was to be a shoot which included the whole enchilada; preparing, driving to, sleeping in tents under the stars, cooking “spider dogs” over the open fire and of course some fishing.
Did Ang & Pete bite off more they can chew???
