More value plan work here! You have to premix the values as guidelines, then assign their roles; two for shadow, one for light, or one for shadow and two for light. We try both here, you decide and stick with that. A value cannot play both roles of light and shadow. It's either one or the other in this exercise. Then you apply color to those values and you will achieve a painting that has color, light, shadow and form. This exercise helps to maintain clarity in a painting. Your value plan should be obvious when finished.
