The real-life footage of a dream adventure gone terribly wrong. In 2002 five friends lead by Jesse Martin set off on an epic world voyage aboard the timber ketch ‘Kijana’ (swahili for ‘young people’) in search of paradise and exotic cultures. With cameras rolling they soon discover that finding their story doesn’t always go to plan. When the two girls jump ship in Darwin, Jesse, brother Beau and camera-man Josh are joined by Danish backpacker Maria as they leave Australian waters for the Spice islands of Indonesia. Funerals, caves and Komodo dragons lead to a final attempt to discover true adventure by locating the Punan tribe in the jungles of Borneo. Yet as the adventure heightens the crew fail at capturing everything they feel, and cabin fever threatens the friendships that have survived every other disaster. Then one fateful night at their paradise location, Maya Bay (the filming location of ‘The Beach’ in Thailand) emotions errupt in a night of honesty that unknowingly give the crew their final story and greatest realisation.
