In 2012 I chronicled and cataloged every foot of Mt. Rainier's Wonderland Trail with a camera setup of my own design. The entire 101 miles (including the alternate route over Spray Park) was captured using time lapse photography at 2 stills per second. These stills (316,000 of them!) were assembled to create a video where the viewer whisks along the trail at the equivalent speed of 30-40 MPH. A moving map display that includes relative position, elevation and date/time stamps keeps the viewer oriented. For all river crossings, road crossings and places of stunning views, stabilized video was captured using 3 cameras to afford a 300 degree viewing experience at normal walking speed. This series includes the BASIC SERIES (time lapse for the entire trail), WALKIN' THE WONDERLAND (300 degree video with original music score) and WONDERLAND TRAIL WATER, where I cataloged and captured every year round water source along the trail. Spending thousands of dollars and vacation time to do this destination hike? Complete your planning; see for yourself. This series is unique and unprecedented.
