Set in 16th century France, the 28 minute movie short, Germaine: Requiem of a Soul, recounts the life of Saint Germaine Cousin, a poor shepherd girl who was physically and mentally abused by her stepmother. She was a poor shepherdess who was assigned by her wicket stepmother to watch the sheep near a wolf-infested forest. Miraculously, she was protected by God, but underwent, nevertheless severe beating by her step mother. Though persecuted because of her faith in Jesus and an unsightly skin disorder, she grew in holiness, as she embraced a life of prayer, penance and alms giving; she assisted the poor and hungry even though she was malnourished. She offered up her suffering, mystically joining her Lord on the most Holy Cross. Germaine performed many miracles, and was exhumed incorrupt forty three years after her death.
