The Four Fighting Zones

1. Head to head, where there are no or minimal distance between two fighters. When an offensive opponent likes to charge in our use grabbling techniques, the effective defensive techniques against this situation are:
* Hooks to the body
* Upper cuts
* Horizontal elbow
* Low punches

2. Arm to body where the distance between two fighters is approximately an arm length apart.
The effective techniques for this zone are:
* Boxing techniques such as jab, straight, overhead cross, hook
* Hand techniques such as punch, back fist, ridge hand, reverse knife hand
* Low kicks such as sweep, knee kick
* 45 degree kick such as round house

3. Arm to arm/arm-to-leg where the distance between two fighters is approximately a single leg length to arm and leg length apart.
The effective techniques for this zone are:
* Jumping in reverse punch, jumping in back fist
* Shuffling legs kicks such as axe kick, round house kick
* Skipping in or sliding in side kick, hook kicks
* Scissors leg kicks such as back spinning, back turning

4. No contact zone where the distance between two fighters is greater than zone 3, or more than leg to body distance.

Usually when the opponent likes to back away.

The effective techniques for this zone are:
* Stepping in jumping kicks
* Double hop jumping kicks Arrangement sparring with protective equipment emphasis the four zones.

Self Defense Techniques Against:
Attacker with knife plunging straight forward, knife striking down and knife inward slash
From sitting position attacker approaching with two hands
Attacker sitting adjacent touching thigh and attacker arm around shoulder
