One Man Band Reporter is no longer the p.c. term for the difficult line of broadcast reporting that is my specialty. These days, I am known as a Backpack Journalist (BPJ). As a CBS affiliate reporter, I was the first Backpack Journalist among all four major network affiliates in the Washington D.C. television news market. My role at WUSA9 was critical in establishing a precedent and a framework for many more reporters who would soon be trained at shooting and editing.
One Man Band Reporter may be an outdated title for a broadcast professional who shoots, writes, edits, and reports every aspect of the news. Even so, I have made a deliberate decision to keep it alive on the world wide web with the name of my business.
