Watch what happens when a range of different materials are subjected to the same temperatures withstood by modern jet engines like the GE9X, which powers the Boeing 777X.

GE engineers study materials to understand their strengths and limitations. While most metals have high melting points, they tend to be heavy. And lighter materials like ceramics break down under intense heat and pressure. But when we combine the heat resistance of metals and light weight of ceramics, we get hybrid super materials like ceramic-matrix composites (CMCs).

They put it far away enough probably, and had transparent shielding.

The thing's being melted are not in a test chamber.. they are being melted by sunlight being focused by a Lense...
If the object being heated is not at the focus point its not going to get hot.. IE the camera is safe..

Hey at least we know that if we use this metal in few million years we can be safe from a Red Giant sun. :\

BUT, did you have to use Dinosaurs!? T_T

Interesting as you say but a but boring to watch.
More interesting objects and shooting it on a slo mo phantom camera at very high speed, with cool editing.
That's my 2 cents.

ceramics may be heat resistant, but aren't they brittle?

The snow globe was pretty heat resistant. BUT YOU BURNED IT TILL' IT EXPLODED.

Wow - I'm relieved to know they aren't building jets from crayons! That would be terrifying (albeit colorful... hmmmmm...)
