Rustam Mikayil Vakilov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan (USSR) in 1986. He moved to Istanbul, Turkey when he was 7 years old to continue his education. 11 years later, he got accepted to the most prestigious university in Turkey for Physics major. However, from the age of 18-20, he realized his gift was shifting from science toward art. He dropped everything and moved to Los Angeles, CA to start a new journey in his life. After three years studying Cinema in Santa Monica College, Rustam got accepted to the well known USC School of Cinematic Arts majoring in Film Production.
Now as a USC Film School alumnus, Rustam has directed and produced over a dozen music videos, commercials, and narrative works.
He has enormous passion and love for art; music, cinematography, directing, visual effects, editing and color grading. He speaks three languages; Russian, Turkish, and English as his third.
One of Rustam's favorite films are One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Roberto Benigni's La Vita e Bella (Life is Beautiful), Jeux D'enfants (Love Me If You Dare), Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, Sam Mendes' American Beauty, Paul Haggis' Crash, Devil's Advocate, Identity, Oldboy, Mystic River, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
