Born in 1976 in Tehran, Iran, Sadaf Foroughi began her artistic career in 2003 when she started to create and produce short films, documentaries and video art pieces, which were screened and exhibited in prestigious national and international festivals and cultural centers around the world. Her short films were also nominated for several awards at prestigious national and international festivals.
She was selected to participate the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2005 and had workshops with acclaimed filmmakers Stephen Frears, Walter Salles and Ridley Scott.
In 2014, she was invited to the Cannes International Film Festival Screenwriters’ Pavilion with her first feature film script.
In addition to her film career, she has also been involved professionally in creating photographic based interdisciplinary arts, video installations and also performance art.
Sadaf Foroughi holds a master degree in French literature from Tehran Azad University. She graduated with MA in Film Studies from University of Provence (Aix-Marseille I) and has continued her Ph.D. in Film philosophy at the Philosophy Department of the same university. She also has a degree in Film Production from New York Film Academy.
She is the permanent member of the Iranian Short Film Society (ISFA) since 2005 and the permanent member of the Société Des Auteurs & Compositeurs Dramatiques (SCAM) since 2010.
