The Ballad of Kyle T. MaGatt (2020)

Aided by the powers from his little red hat,
A deplorable fellow named Kyle MaGatt
Goes hunting for Covid to save the economy,
And to become the true hero Americans should be.
Made with a touch of dear Dr. Seuss,
And the great UPA shorts the 50s did produce.
This short was made entirely in quarantine
Because this is 2020, if you know what I mean.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I released this short cartoon August 24, 2020, the day before the #KyleRittenhouse shootings in #Kenosha. Yes, the coincidence is somewhat unsettling. It has also been unsettling to see additional imagery from my cartoon become real, such as the October 10 rally at the White House with all of the light blue shirts under all the red hats. Further still… the events of January 6th, 2021 renders this piece naive, although in a hopeful way. And then November 2024, and then 2025… well… you get the idea.

I still urge you to watch my cartoon all the way through, because there is more happening here than you might expect.
