Santa Barbara Institute on World Affairs was established in 2010 and is a registered 501-C3 non-profit organization.
Its goal is to foster a deeper understanding of global and national issues affecting humanity; and through discussions, interaction and civil discourse, achieve greater levels of knowledge, empowerment and commitment for participants. By bringing experts and world class leaders to Santa Barbara for at least three planned forums each year, we will provide a platform where people can develop a greater understanding of these issues, speak openly and without judgment, and through careful deliberation work together to discuss possible solutions to these issues. We will also provide resources and tools so that you may become active in areas that concern you most.
As a community, we are fortunate to have the education, influence and economics to be part of the solution and work towards a better world – and that is precisely why The Institute has been created.
Each forum will tackle a series of defining issues selected by our Board members and you. Topics throughout the year will include economics, the environment, education, security, social issues and the human condition.
