Working independently since 2013, Shane Lester is a multi-disciplined art director, designer, and filmmaker working fluidly across print, digital, and time-based mediums. He strives to create work which is contemporary, relevant, and above all beautiful, with sharp aesthetic sense, and exacting attention to detail. His process is highly intuitive, informed by his generalist stance toward creative work, and diverse cultural experiences of east meets west.
Prior to going independent, Shane experienced eight years as an art director in the Tokyo office of renowned advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy, gaining extensive exposure to all types of creative projects and working situations, from the largest scale international advertising campaigns for multinational clients, to the smallest of independent, self-initiated jobs. Alongside the legendary Eric Cruz (+cruz) and Gino Woo, he is also known as a founding creative member of W+K Tokyo Lab, the experimental audiovisual record label launched by W+K Tokyo in 2003, which continued to release pioneering CD+DVD albums in collaboration with some of Japan’s premiere young musical talents through 2010.
Based in Tokyo and working worldwide.
