The third concert of the 2018 "Summer Band Concerts Under the Stars" caps the Independence Day holiday with an evening filled with wonderfully American music. Dale Engstrom leads the group through a program of classic marches, movie soundtrack music, and concert favorites. Guest artist, violinist Yuliya Hess, plays Leroy Anderson's engaging "The Irish Washerwoman." KHS vocal-music teacher, Richard Mynderup, joins the contingent for "Armed Forces Salute" honoring the men and women who have served our country in various branches of the military. The first half closes with the Carmen Dragon rendition of "America the Beautiful" and the evening's concert culminates, as always, with John Philip Sousa's very appropriate "Stars and Stripes Forever."
