This talk was part of Milestones of Medieval Dublin. A series of monthly lunchtime lectures which took place during 2013 at the Wood Quay Venue. The series is presented by the Friends of Medieval Dublin and Dublin City Council.
Con Manning is Senior Archaeologist with the National Monuments Service, Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. He has a particular interest in medieval archaeology and architecture. He has directed many archaeological excavations including Clonmacnoise, Co. Offaly; Roscrea Castle, Co. Tipperary; Glanworth Castle in Co. Cork and Cloughoughter, Co.Cavan. He also directed a large scale excavation at Dublin Castle with Dr Ann Lynch between 1985 and 1987. He was President of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland 2001-2004. He is currently President of the County Kildare Archaeological Society.
