Seymour Phillips is Professor Emeritus of Medieval Dublin of UCD having completed a long and distinguished tenure there as Head of Department. Professor Phillips is an Historian of international renown and an expert in the machinations of 14th century high politics in England, Ireland and Scotland. An acknowledged expert on the 14th century and beyond, his works include major publications such as his biography of Aymer de Valence, Earl of Pembroke as well as a recent biography on Edward II which was his contribution to the Yale English Monarchs Series. He coedited 'Ireland, England and the Continent in the Middle Ages and Beyond: Essays in Memory of a Turbulent Friar, F.X. Martin' with Professor Howard Clarke from the Friends of Medieval Dublin.
