The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) TB and Hansen’s Disease Branch has available staff and various tools to assist in managing TB contact investigations. The general process of contact investigations will be presented, along with descriptions of available resources to public health professionals. The goal is to help secure complete and successful contact investigations – a critical component of any TB program. We will be joined by staff from the City of Houston and DSHS Public Health Region 11 to discuss their management of recent contact investigations in their jurisdictions. These case studies will illustrate the critical and complex field work required for successful contact investigations, and how TB staff partner with their communities and local healthcare providers to serve public health.
