Slope changes such as these should be treated similar to an eave, using a “D-Style”edge-metal flashing. The top flange should extend a minimum of 2 inches on the roof deck. Lay Starter shingles even with the flashing overhang, followed by field shingles as normal. The bottom flange should overlap the top course of shingles below by a minimum of 4 inches.
