Damaged Shingle Replacement:
In the event that a shingle is damaged badly enough to require replacement, use the heat gun to reactivate the adhesive strip underneath the front of the damaged shingle; this will make it easier to remove the shingle and minimize the chance of damaging surrounding shingles.
Also use the heat gun to reactivate the glue on surrounding shingles in order to have easier access to any fasteners securing the damaged shingle to the deck. Carefully remove any fasteners necessary to extract the damaged shingle.
Replace the damaged shingle, and use the heat gun to re-adhere surrounding shingles. If necessary, use an approved sealant to resecure tabs to the roof.
Lifted tabs, or tabs that did not seal due to weather, glue contamination, or uneven deck conditions, can be sealed down with a 1’’ dab of sealant and one stainless finish nail per lifted tab. See our Technical Bulletin for further details.
Scratches disappear like magic from F Wave shingles by simply applying heat with a heat gun. This self healing property means you don’t need to replace the shingle just because you dropped your hammer on it.
