In both practical and visionary terms, we consider what art has been, is, and could be.

The School of Art is one of 5 Schools in the College of Fine Arts (CFA) at Carnegie Mellon University including: Architecture, Design, Drama and Music. Founded in 1905, the College was the first comprehensive arts teaching institution in the US.

The School of Art encourages experimentation, crossing boundaries, and hybrid mentalities as well as the history and traditions of art. We offer breadth and depth in renowned degree programs, and all the benefits of a university that enjoys high rankings.

Degree programs:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), 4-year

- Master of Fine Arts (MFA), 3-year
(#2 program in multi-media, 2008 US News & World Report ranking)

We also support three interdisciplinary degrees:
- Bachelor of Humanities & Arts (BHA)
