Steve Acevedo directed the award-winning short, EL COCODRILO (The Crocodile), written by Alfredo Barrios
and starring Jacob Vargas. The film won Best Short at the 2013 Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, making it Oscar eligible in 2015. Steve was one of three directors selected for the Disney/ABC-DGA Directing Fellowship in 2008, where he shadowed directors on shows such as GREY’S ANATOMY, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, GREEK, BROTHERS & SISTERS, SOUTHLAND, etc. In 2012, he was selected for the NBC Directing Fellowship where he shadowed three episodes of BURN NOTICE.
Steve began shooting and directing commercials in his home state of Texas after he graduated with a MFA in Cinematography from Florida State University. He served as Director of Photography on the feature films, I AM JACK’S APOCALYPSE (Post-Prod.), SATELLITE OF LOVE and COWBOY SMOKE as well as the feature documentaries, CATCHING THE SUN (Post-Prod.), PARROTHEADS (Post-Prod.), and SOJA: LIVE IN HAWAII. He recently completed shooting STUDENT ATHLETE, an ESPN 30 for 30 doc, directed by Ken Jeong, as well as 2nd Unit photography for the FX series, THE BRIDGE.
In addition, he has shot numerous short films, music videos and reality television shows, working throughout the United States and internationally in China, Italy, France, Mexico, Costa Rica, Aruba, Honduras, Puerto Rico, etc. He is currently based out of Los Angeles.
