1. Shutter Ísland

    from Team Nine Added 337K 4,769 171

This is the first project in a series of hopefully many more released by Team Nine. Set in Switzerland and Iceland, Shutter Ísland tells the story of Iwan and Raphael meeting up for a fifteen day journey exploring the island in the North Atlantic. We knew that Iceland is also referred to as photographer's paradise so we packed some camera equipment and a plan for a video project. The idea was to capture the sceneries that we came across while driving and hiking, and to bring them home as a souvenir. Good memories. • Seven days far away

      from Ed Inglis Added 9,230 100 18

On a recent trip to Iceland I was intending to relax and soak in some hot water but the surroundings forced my hand and I was compelled to shoot something. It was the end of February and with the sun hanging so low for so long it really is an extraordinary country to film at that time of year. Luckily I was traveling with some very helpful and patient people and we were able to do something. Shot on a Cannon 550D. The music is called Pretty Face by Soley from the album We Sink. This sequence is a contrast of two very different chapters in the Icelandic non-narrative film Heild. We explore a moonlit night at Þingvellir national park, southwest Iceland. The beautifully blue skies are glowing with majestic green northern lights, they reflect in the crystal clear pond in the ground. We gaze at our own galaxy, the Milky Way before dwelving into an active volcano, the picturesque but fierce eruption at Fimmvörðuháls. The powerful music in this chapter is the original work of Mr. Professor Kliq, specifically scored for this part. This film was set out to present Iceland in a way it has never been presented before, using many elements of higher-end cinematography. There are places here everyone knows, but there are also thousands of well hidden places. To find these locations one has to be adventurous or a local, and to capture them right, one has to be creative and extremely patient. The film features an original score from Professor Kliq (www.professorkliq.com) and additional music from Ólafur Arnalds (www.olafurarnalds.com), Friðjón Jónsson, Trabant and Mono (www.monoofjapan.com). 2009.02.10. Went with a friend, Ragnar Eldon, after work for a little flight in his KitFox ultralight. We flew from Tungubakkar airfield (near Reykjavik), passed Mt. Skalafell on to Lake Thingvellir (Icelands biggest natural lake). Flew around the area, landed on the frozen lake, stopped for a while, then flew some more. Weather had been freezing for many days (minus 12-18°C) and this was the last day of frost for the time being. Lakes were all frozen, sunny & beautiful day. GREAT FLIGHT ! Thanks for the flight Raggi Eldon. Music by Donald Fagen - IGY (International Geophysical Year)
