I've just received today from TCP Voigtlander's distributor the Nokton 17.5mm f/0.95. I have this lens for 10 days and will do more tests, also in the night. The lens is great and I'm very impressed with this first hands on. It's bigger and louder than it's brother the 25mm f/0.95. On the first clip you will see them both (shot with SLR Magic 12mm), then clip number two is taken with the 25mm and clip number three (and all the others) is shot with the 17.5mm, so you can see the difference of the field coverage. This lens has very smooth aperture ring, especially when you switch it on the "no clic" position. The focus ring is quite smooth, like the 25mm. The minimum focus distance is very very short, you can shoot quite in front of the glass ! I will do more test to compare with the 25mm and the SLR Magic Cine lens 50mm later. Techni Cine Phot lend me the Voigtlander 17.5mm f/0.95 for few days. This is what I have shot during this week clips from work and spectator on music festivals "Afrika Djawas'" and "Chahuts Festival". I almost shot at f/0.95 all the clips, helped by a ND variable filter. You will see night shots, and interiors with artificial lights, and also few day shots. This is a must have lens, larger than her 25 brother, and very sharp, even at f/0.95. The "no clic" aperture is useful on video. The minimum focus distance is very short, maybe 3 cm, and not the 15cm written on the lens. I received the Voigtlander Nokton 17.5mm F0.95 today and wanted to see how wide the 17.5mm would go compared to the 25mm. To make this video more interesting, I brought a couple other MFT lenses for comparsion as listed below. I left the lenses wide open and set them on a tripod in the same spot. It was purely for fun and non-scientific. 1. SamYang 7.5mm F3.5 Fisheye 2. SLR Magic HyperPrime 12mm F1.6 3. Voigtlander Nokton 17.5mm F0.95 Aspherical 4. Voigtlander Nokton 25mm F0.95

I got my hands on the super 16mm Angenieux 17.5-70mm zoom. I have a PL adapter that I'm working on, but this test was all shot with the Arri S to MFT mount. Thought the 2 lens might seem like the same but there is some difference in turns of depth and sharpness. The 17.5mm can go really close to the subject. I really had a lot of fun with them.

Double11 and Q-Games out for dinner and drinks in Kyoto. It seemed a good time to try out the 96fps slow-mo features of my new Lumix GH4 camera. The footage is 100Mbps 1080p@96fps, and I then use optical flow in final cut pro to slow down things further at some points. Check out the PixelJunk series of games from Q-Games on Steam, Vita and PlayStation 3, including the up-coming PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate edition for PlayStation 4. Eva Ross was in the studio a few weeks ago to do some writing and record a couple demos. As soon as she started to sing, we knew it was something special. I hit record, then thought, "I should be filming this!" The goal of the Iron Wing Live series, is live video an recording. I wasn't able to pull that off this time, because filming was so impromptu, but I'm happy with the results. The second half of the video is live, then I filled in the first half with some b-roll. The black and white decision was made in post. It just fit the song so nice. Gorilla Grain's free pack was overlaid for the flicker and texture. Everything was shot with a GH3 and Voigtlander 17.5mm, then edited in Premiere CS6.
