    • Patrick Sweeney - Rowing for Olympic Gold

      Patrick Sweeney finished 2nd in the 1996 Olympic trials as a single sculler in the sport of rowing. His expertise was in the team boats as a collegiate champion, national champion, and Olympic Fest Champion (where he led the eight and quad to gold medals) He excelled as the lead rower in four man and eight man boats for most of his rowing career. However, with selection decisions based on size or erg scores, not ability to row fast and other politics Sweeney set a goal of being the best possible athlete he could just two years before the Olympics; he set his sights on the single scull. He participated in many world cup and international races, winning several prestigious international races such as the Norwegian Championships and the Canadian Henley Regatta all in the single scull.

They were a major sponsor of the original bid and were heavily involved in volunteering at the games. It was nominated for an Emmy (Southeast) for Historical Documentary.
