Video of my son Jasper photowalking on 42nd street. He carried with him Nikon D200 with a 18-70mm lens – a hefty gear! The camera was set to black and white. With practiced arm strength, all he needed was a little encouragement. He did well, I think. Despite a discouraging gesture from one Marine, which he captured and became his money shot, he moved on! Shot with Xacti HD1000 & Nikon D200 Cut with iMovie Music "We Will Become Silhouettes" By Postal Service Photos by J.A.R

Put This On, a web series about dressing like a grownup, visits New York City, a place where style is defined and redefined through interpretation and reinterpretation. Meet the 'Lo Heads. With roots in 1980s street gangs, these Polo Ralph Lauren enthusiasts have made "aspirational apparel" a lifestyle. They once had to boost their Polo from stores and fight to keep it on the streets. Today, their culture is worldwide, promulgated by hip-hop. Their hero is Ralph Lauren - a working class New Yorker who understood that the fantastical power of style can be transformative. Dallas Penn from The Internets Celebrities, a dedicated Lo Head (and former member of the Decepts crew) with a collection of over 1000 pieces of Polo apparel takes us on a tour of this remarkable fashion subculture. Visit Worth & Worth hat shop, a New York institution with roots going back to 1922. In recent memory, Orlando Palacios has made the shop a home for rockers as well as traditionalists, turning hundred-year-old machines to the task of reinterpreting hundred-year-old styles. Meet Jason Marshall, a jazz saxaphonist with a classic style. He plays with bands ranging from traditional bop to hip-hop fusion to Aretha Franklin, but he prefers to wear tailored clothes when he does it, and explains why. And in our Q & Answer segment, find out how to pack your suit for travel. We'll show you a fold to keep it neat inside a rolling carry-on or suitcase, and we'll show you how to keep your trousers on the hanger inside a garment bag.

This once, it rained lights and colors in New York City. I was in the middle of it, taking it all in. Happy in the mids of wet steps and cold hustle, bustle, high heels, wheels and slick neon sheen. 42nd Street, NYC Shot with Xacti HD1000 on a monopod.

This was not the first time i've seen and heard the maestro play. Months ago i had made a recording of the saw music for me to sample later. He was a really nice about the whole recording business. I gave him a few bucks at that time. Months passed and i did not see the maestro. Then today as i came up from the 1 train there he was setting up. I asked him to play some Beatles. He objected for a while worried about copyrights. After an explanation of creative commons he set the tape in and began his duet. The saw is truly hypnotic to listen to... and as he played it reminded me of the film Delicatessen. In the end of the film the two characters, a clown and his lover the butchers daughter are sitting on the roof dueting. She plays the cello and he, the musical saw. if you've seen the film you know the absurd power of that scene and if not then forget it and just listen... As part of our musical subway series we bring to you, "Imagine" by John Lennon performed by the musical saw maestro Moses Josiah in the 42nd street subway. enjoy, Marlo P.S. if you want the clean sample of the saw in an AIFF contact PanmanProductions.

http://PanamanPictures.tumblr.com At 42nd and 1st, a crowd of exhilarated Manhattanites armed with their cameras, gathers to see the sun come down to their level. This phenomenon, also known as the Manhattan Solstice, happens biannually when the sun sets in perfect alignment with the street grid of New York City. This was recorded on the second Manhattanhenge of 2009 with a Panasonic HPX-170.

Standing on a street corner, I did what I usually do with a still camera: Aim at the crowd, watch and wait for those moments or things that trigger the shutter. This time with a video camera, I found a thumb in the crowd. Music: Respect (after Bach's Quia respexit humilitatem from Magnificat in D) by Coco de Mer Camera: Xacti HD1000 on Slick mini-pro tripod. I've been trying to figure out why the footage I shot on my Nikon D90 with a DX AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm 3.5-5.6 always came out as if it had some function on auto mode. The exposure seemed to keep changing all the time. I shot it in Manual mode and the ISO sensitivity was off. I can't figure out which configuration could solve the problem. Please help. :(
