uncommercial-Short-Mood-Documentary by Chris Caliman 2011 Canon 7D Music: Gustavo Santaolalla - Can Light Be Found in the Darkness? Agbogbloshie is a suburb of Accra, Ghana known as a destination for legal and illegal exportation and environmental dumping of electronic waste (e-waste) from industrialized nations. Often referred to as a "digital dumping ground", millions of tons of e-waste are processed each year in Agbogbloshie Processing electronic waste presents a serious health threat to workers at Agbogbloshie. The fumes released from the burning of the plastics and metals used in electronics are composed of highly toxic chemicals and carcinogens. Workers often inhale lead, cadmium, dioxins, furans, phthalates and brominated flame retardants. Exposure to these fumes is especially hazardous to children, as these toxins are known to inhibit the development of the reproductive system, the nervous system and the brain. This short Mood-Documentary is recutted from the material of the german Documentary "Die Kinder der Toxic City" which i shot this year as a second dop with Jürgen Steiger as the first dop with Christian Bock -director- in Ghana. This pictures are all shooted by me... here is the link to the original full lengh german documentary from the ZDF: http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/beitrag/video/1355586/ZDFzoom-Toxic-City?setTime=0#/beitrag/video/1355586/ZDFzoom-Toxic-City+ More details

Partnering with Jarratt Best (Public Engagement Officer with SickKids Foundation in Toronto), I was given the opportunity to create several videos that spoke to the issues facing children's health and health care in the developing world and what SickKids Foundation was doing with partners in these countries. This video was filmed in Ghana when we spent 10 days there in Accra and in Kpedze-Todze (Volta region) where we were graciously invited to spend a day with the children of that village. The concept was to present the contrasting stats & figures of children's health care between Canada and Ghana, spoken by the children of Ghana themselves and by the people who are making a difference to eliminate these disparities. This is the 1st of several videos we are producing from that trip. Check out more videos from our Ghana trip: We follow aspiring paediatric nurse and musician, George "Senyo" Norshie, as he follows his passions: vimeo.com/gramera/georgesjourney Ideation & Creative Direction: Graeme Mathieson & Jarratt Best Director: Graeme Mathieson Camera: Graeme Mathieson Post and Motion Design: Graeme Mathieson Production Company: Q Media Solutions (www.qmediasolutions.com) Executive Producer: Richard Quinlan Producer: Menaka Mallikage Ghana-SickKids Project Manager: Dylan Walters+ More details
