The Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council held a Region 3 Town Hall event on Saturday January 31, 2015 at North Valley City Hall. Topics included the Canyon Park Homes development, the Samoa project and the Goliath threatening our Foothill communities, the High Speed Rail. It was a great opportunity to hear Assemblywoman Patty Lopez discuss our local issues. Also presenting important information were Liliana Sanchez, Deby Ray, Lydia Grant, Dave DePinto, Mary Benson, School Board member Monica Ratliff, and City Council candidate Cindy Montanez. We were joined by community organizers and elected officials representing Sylmar, Pacoima and the City of San Fernando, neighboring communities that are also being threatened by the High Speed Rail. Representatives from Congressman Adam Schiff's office, Senator Carol Liu's office, Mayor Eric Garcetti's office and Councilman Felipe Fuente's office were also present. Thank you to David Barron and Nina Royal who organized the event. We definitely grew stronger from the knowledge and spread our wings a little farther. Renowned MPN experts, Dr. Srdan Verstovsek and Dr. Jason Gotlib, explain why a second opinion is imperative, especially with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).
