Zoo (Volkerschau) is about two girls, one African, one German, preparing to see a live show featuring an exotic creature at the World's Fair in 1958. Same expectations, drastically different outcomes. One thing for sure; we don't know racism until it's taught to us. Zoo represents the depth of human capacity to find freedom in captivity. Zoo is a perspective on humanity. It explores the delicacy of innocence, the tightrope dynamics of mother-daughter relationships, the constant sacrifice and hard decisions mothers face with parenting, and the zest of a youthful dreamer compared to the resignation of dreams deferred for an older person who has simply run out of time to dream. Zoo celebrates life and freedom despite one’s circumstances and embraces the beauty of self-awareness and evolving, within the confines of one’s own personal zoo. Maya Angelou knew why the caged bird sings. And now, so will we. Produced by industry veteran Sabrina L Gray, this is filmmaker Monda Raquel Webb's calling card to the industry. The duo formed a production company last fall, Little Known Stories, to tell stories hidden in the crevices of History's pages. They are excavators, digging up truth and telling it through a visual medium in a purely organic way. Zoo (Volkerschau) is the first of many. Theme: All of us are Human, some of us only Pretend to be. Social Media: IG and Twitter @littleknownspc #letsallbehuman FaceBook: Zoo - Volkerschau Languages: English, German, Twi
