Just a 15 second taster (in 720p - bandwidth limited out here in the middle of the South Pacific!) of the first few days shooting out on the remote Chathams. Stunning place, stunning wildlife. More can be read at jamesreardon.org This is from the first few days of shooting for a documentary on the Chatham Islands environment and society. Not without it's logistical challenges but very exciting. Shot on BMCC, tweeked in Premiere Pro CC

Taken with my GoPro Hero. Was in the waterproof case the whole time since it was raining. I bumped up the audio gain a lot so you can hear some sound since the waterproof case muffles the sound quite a bit. The crackling sound you hear is the rain. The yellow plastic bag I'm holding contains my other camera which did get wet but no damage done. When you hear me say the South Pole is behind me of course I mean the continent of Antarctica is just out of sight on the other side of the Drake Passage. The monument in the video is a Memorial in memory of the men of the sea from every nation that lost their lives fighting against the merciless forces of nature of the Southern Ocean that prevail in the vicinity of the legendary Cape Horn. Go here to see all the stills from the trip: http://studio808.smugmug.com/Travel/Patagonia-Dec-2013/36098701_Fjtcxw This trip was taken with Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT). Waved Albatrosses breed almost exclusively on Española Island, in the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. Española is one of the oldest islands of the chain, and has eroded down to a largely flat rocky plateau. The video shows the red-colored Marine Iguanas, the Galapagos Mockingbirds, Warbler Finch, and sea lions. The Albatrosses, clumsy on land, are extremely efficient fliers who spend most of their lives in the air. They scoop up squid and fish and have glands to excrete the excess salt they pick up. They have a dramatic courtship involving dueling beaks, seen here. Their flight excursions, and navigation abilities, are astounding. They range over more than 1.5 million square kilometers of ocean, and find their way back to their waiting chicks on Española.

Wandering albatrosses at South Georgia are in trouble. Their population has decreased by over 50% since the 1970s and is still decreasing. Like many other seabirds wandering albatrosses are accidentally hooked and drowned on longlines set for tunas and swordfish. This mortality is devastating the South Georgia population and must be stopped. The good news is that the deaths are preventable, but effective action is urgently needed to stop the wandering albatross from sliding to extinction. This film describes the remarkable life history and oceanic travels of South Georgia wanderers, explains why their populations are sensitive to unnatural levels of mortality and seeks support for initiatives designed to secure the future of this iconic seabird. King Crimson: Live in Kassel (1974) DGM Collector's Club - Club36 (2007). Live in Kassel, Germany, April 01, 1974 Personnel: Robert Fripp - Guitar, Mellotron David Cross - Violin, Mellotron John Wetton - Bass, Lead Vocal Bill Bruford - Drums
