Along with the new sustainability report Volkswagen Group for the first time presents the largest low-CO2 fleet worldwide comprising 57 model variants. Before the European policy set its CO2 benchmarks for 2020, Volkswagen as the world’s first automaker had already committed itself to the ambitious goal of reducing its European new-car fleet-average emissions to 95 g CO2/km by that year. The 57 model variants mentioned above already meet these standards and achieve an impressive mileage of more than 57 mpg (gasoline: over 57 mpg, diesel: over 65 mpg). The XL1 for example is able to travel 100 km on one litre of diesel which equals an astonishing 313 mpg. Read more: http://bit.ly/1GRYS4o © 2015 | 3BL Media/Volkswagon | All Rights Reserved

Jeff does an introduction to wind turbine operation, necessary components like wind turbine dump loads, power charge controllers, wiring, etc. Although solar panels are very accessible, solar panels won't product power when the sun isn't out. Wind turbines are capable of producing usable power 24 hours a day. With a lot of options on the market, Jeff covers the difference in 3 Phase AC output and DC output style wind turbines. Wind turbine blades are also an area with a lot of options and can be confusing. Jeff explains the different blade materials, blade numbers (odd blades versus even blades), and the flywheel effect. • Energy Tech Building — AECOM breaks the boundaries of engineering at the University of Nottingham

                      00:32

                      from 3BL Media / Added

AECOM developed pioneering technology that maximizes energy and minimizes demand for heating, cooling and ventilation. “We were asked to break the boundaries of engineering and, according to the client, we did,” said AECOM’s Aleksandra Sasha Krstanovic, regional director, building engineering and project director, for recent work at the University of Nottingham. Set to become an internationally significant hub for energy research and low-carbon technologies, the university's Energy Technologies Building (ETB) needed to remain within a limited cost budget and meet two ambitious energy goals — to become the world’s first zero-carbon operational laboratory and to achieve a BREEAM “Outstanding” rating, the highest possible level.
