This is the exact same footage and editing of the King of Prussia "I'll Dance with You" music video but overlaid with the "Audrey" music track by Angelo Badalamenti from the Twin Peaks soundtrack. The video was inspired by Twin Peaks (among others) so I thought it would be a cool way to pay tribute to the show and see how the video would feel with that music. It's interesting to see how music (often referred to as the emotion of film) can change the feel of the same footage. Images scattered around the walls in a small dark room. Viewer has to have a torch and walk down stairs. The viewer is active in the piece as he has to find the images with the torch, the same time an audio piece with facts about body snatching and dissection plays. The project started with the location of The Museum of Anatomy at Glasgow University, were we were supposed to work with and seek inspiration from. We recreated the containers from the museum in our own way but wanted the viewer to have to wonder about what he was looking at. The audio piece connects it all together and sets a certain atmosphere along with the darkness. The ubiquity of consumer-oriented digital modeling tools and comprehensive 3D environments points to a world in which the simple relationship between maker and model is complicated, in which our idea of desirable habitats and our preference for "tasteful" structures will become linked more to perceived notoriety than to an existing urban context. Compound Stack Model proposes a living space preoccupied with the "Internet famous" building, in which material resolution, rather than an inevitability, is an option, arranged according to elevation — to ascend and descend between floors is to pass from one model to another, from one version of a single place in time to another version, and to repeatedly cross the threshold between lesser and greater resolutions the higher one climbs. "The compound seems to have been added to in an ad hoc fashion. There were bedrooms that were adjoined by kitchens and bathrooms, allowing occupants to live separately. Interior hallways and stairwells were transected by locking metal grate work, like garden gates. There were doorways that led to brick walls and hallways that went nowhere. It was an odd, top-heavy looking house" (Pfarrer, Chuck. "SEAL Target Geronimo: The Inside Story of the Mission to Kill Osama bin Laden." New York: St. Martin's Press, 2011. Print. 163). Ian H. This March, Nitehawk’s retrospective series THE WORKS focuses on the contemporary composer, Angelo Badalamenti. Best known for composing the iconic theme song to Twin Peaks (for which he won a Grammy) and his long-time partnership with David Lynch, Angelo Badalamenti has created wholly original scores for film and television throughout his decades-long career. Influential and incredibly affective, Badalamenti’s haunting soundscapes have been an essential component to the diverse range of films Nitehawk is celebrating this March: Lost Highway, Cabin Fever, Secretary, A Late Quartet, and The City of Lost Children.+ More details
