I just re-discovered a short movie that I created in 2007 for the film festival stock stock. In that film festival every participant got a large collection of small clips that were all in the public domain mostly coming from archive.org. The goal was to create a short film using just those clips. I had back then and have until today lots of fun on that little movie.

Considering the great reaction to this mashup (Bootie Top 10, on the Tour CD, Sia apparently likes it ;-) I thought it deserved a different type of video, especially as I'd already used the only good Fleetwood Mac performance of Rhiannon in a previous video for 'White Witch Dub' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7MucRECypU, So here's a video closer to my artworks and collages, of birds, plants and aerial shots taken from old studio process shots (thank you Archive.org!) and nature documentaries which I think fits the feel of the mashup better than a performance band vs band video, and is also more original. Which makes it harder actually - also it's my first full video in Avid Media Composer - I did the MC101 course years back but never did anything with it. So a major learning curve there! Story about the last breaths of a dying, vivisected dog. Never intended it to be about animal rights, but it kind of just took form on accident, based off the footage I found. Music: "Distorted Self-Perception" by Noisuf-X All footage is public domain and from the United States Library of Congress and Archive.org: Edison's Frankenstein, 1910 Execution of Mary, 1895 Experiments in the Revival of Organisms, 1940 Fétiche Mascotte (Duffy the Mascot), 1934 Various recordings of industrial factories and San Francisco

Happy Valentine's Day! I expanded on the mixtape concept and built mini-videos/vignettes around a playlist. All video clips come from the public domain on Archive.org. The songs came from old facebook messages where other people's art proved better at articulating my feelings than I ever could with my clumsy words. Full playlist details to come later. Love comes and goes; art is for ever.

A Streets of Laredo track set to clips from a 1968 educational film entitled 'Who Cares?' courtesy of www.archive.org. "Dramatizes a story about a little boy who would rarely smile and was always grouchy because he felt he was not liked. Tells how his classmates discovered he was a fine musician and helped him to realize that others did care for him after all."
