We proudly present a special edition of Canto Ostinato Audio Visual on Wednesday December 11th. Gwyneth Wentink (harp), Wouter Snoei (electronica) and Arnout Hulskamp (visuals) created a ground-breaking rendition of Simeon Ten Holts Canto Ostinato with which they toured the Netherlands in the past year. They'll end this tour in Trouw on a special note. In this audio visual performance, the three artists react to one another with their instrument and specially designed software and decide who, according to the codes of Canto, takes the lead. Canto Ostinato Audio Visual finds itself on the fascinating intersection between music, the visual arts and technology and is a unique experience. Interaction and improvisation are key themes in this piece, no rendition is ever the same. The special adaptation of Canto is a hymn to The Netherlands' most famous composer in the genre of minimal music, Simeon Ten Holt. For now, it will be the last time this performance can be seen in Amsterdam. Ensemble: Gwyneth Wentink (1981) – Harp player Wouter Snoei (1977) – Electronics Arnout Hulskamp (1978) – Visuals Video credits: Tanja Busking

This video is an interview with VJ and video artist Arnout Hulskamp. He makes the visuals for Inneract. Inneract performs a contemporary version of Simeon ten Holts Canto Ostinato.

An interactive art piece for a stairwell in the Rabobank office, themed “Bringing outside in”. We hooked up six projectors and an equal amount of digital camera’s to a Mac Pro. Whereupon the script processes random photos from the internet which are geotagged with “Utrecht”. The photo get stretched, distorted and diverged over all six floors. This way, the stairways are a live representation of the moods and colours captured by inhabitants of Utrecht. Each two minutes, the image is faded into a new composition, making each stairway visit a new experience. Subsequently any passerby’s movement is tracked by the camera, generating an organic growth of the image. The projected colours are not only influencing the direct image, the whole ambiance of the architecture is. One can imagine the colours are more vivid in summer, warm in autumn and orange during dutch national events like queens-day. In association with Sander ter Braak and AAIQU. "...Artists are respected by the poor because what they do is an honest way to get out of the slum using one's sheer self as the medium. The money earned is proof pure and simple of the value of that individual... The Artist. The picture a mother's son does in jail hangs on her wall as proof that beauty is possible even in the most wretched. And this is a much different idea than the fancier notion that art is a scam and a ripoff. But you could never explain to someone who uses God's gift to enslave that you have used God's gift to be free."
