    • Lost&Found Project

Once a week we travel to a small village outside Fanling. In this remote area, a lot of elderly are living a rather isolated life. There is not a lot to do for them which is a pity as they are still full of life. Thanks to Mission to New Arrivals, we have the opportunity to bring them together and create some art. We started with a mosaic on one of the walls of the centre and will continue with other projects. We are hoping that by delving into their past we reconnect with some long lost skills and bring them out again. With it we hope to revalue their place in society and pass on some amazing skills. The Factory of Things temporarily took over Camden Arts Centre's Ceramic Studio to create a place where accident and failure were highly prized through a process of experimentation, exploration and collective endeavour. Throughout two days the factory produced collaborative shonky, wonky vessels made through slip-casting, press moulding, hand building and clay-playing. Corinne Felgate makes works that attempt to rewrite the world in both modest and ambitious ways, often with dry humour. She is interested in peoples cultural and physiological relationship to making and industry in the digital age. Her work has been commissioned by organisations including Tate Modern, Arts Admin and The British Ceramics Biennial.

Budding young artists joined The Contemporary Austin for the art-making workshop Fantastic Films on August 8, 2014. Kids created their own paper cutout fairy-tale adventures and set their stories in motion at a pop-up animation station hosted by Johnny Villarreal and The Edge of Imagination Station. Check out this video of some of their creations! Every second Saturday of the month, The Contemporary Austin offers hands-on art-making workshops at Laguna Gloria, inspired by the exhibitions on view. Join us between 11A–3P to see family-friendly performances, meet local artists, and make art to take home. Recommended for ages 2–11. Drop in and create!
