Widely recognized as the “Father of stencil graffiti,” Blek le Rat’s iconic work rapidly spread throughout Paris and Europe in the 1980s. Today, Blek le Rat is celebrated globally and is credited for having paved the way for street artists such as Banksy, Shepard Fairey, and Kaws. Curated by DK Johnston, the exhibit features 3 large scale original Blek le Rat paintings, as well as an edition of 25 unique monotypes with lithography that the artist created in collaboration with the New York Academy of Art during his tenure. The Quin’s permanent collection includes Blek le Rat’s “Love America” on the 14th floor and loaned works from DK Johnston of the “Great Wedding” on the second floor, “What Has Been Seen Cannot Be Unseen” in the Boardroom, and “Tango” in the Lobby. The Skirvin Hilton in partnership with the Paseo Arts Association has chosen Oklahoma City native Kerri Shadid as its featured Artist in Residence. As the Skirvin Hilton's Artist in Residence, Ms. Shadid's live studio space is open to hotel guests and visitors. The Artist-in-Residence program encourages the public to interact with the artist and witness the evolution of each piece first-hand, while supporting the artist's work and talent. Shadid is a full-time poet and visual artist who writes spontaneous, whimsical poems for her visitors. She also practices process-oriented art forms such as marbling, bookmaking, and book binding. The aesthetics of word and voice are key in Shadid’s work, using language and poetry to make our existence artistic. Her written works contain elements of magical realism, the surreal, and wabi-sabi, a Japanese tradition celebrating the transient and flawed. We are thrilled that she has decided to practice her art & craft in the Skirvin Hilton’s studio space.

A 360-degree immersive performance, experience developed at a month-long residency in Los Angeles, CA. Artist Ganesh Rao participated along with some of his collaborators who provided support. MORPHOS producer, Ethan Bach, introduced Ganesh and Corrine LeBrun, who performs in Being. The audience is lead through a narrative by a performer where her gestures and movements guide the formation of monolithic natural structures, such as mountains, rocks, and clouds. The visuals are inspired by "emergence", a phenomenon in which larger entities, patterns, and regularities arise through interactions among smaller or simpler entities that themselves do not exhibit such properties. Shapes of mountains, clouds, behaviors of large group of animals, and even consciousness can be associated with this phenomenon. To see more of Ganesh's work go to http://ganeshnrao.com/
