We used our computers, interactive whiteboard, and iPads to send comments. Our "Comment Buddy Schools" are: Dryden Elementary School: http://bit.ly/bVZOE1 Greenbrook Elementary School: http://bit.ly/nnm0dr Lowes Island Elementary School: http://bit.ly/q4U7sP Our B.A. Gallery: http://bit.ly/18D5W5 B.A. artists will be admiring artwork on Artsonia and sending comments to artists who attend these schools. We will be receiving comments from these schools too. Parents, please be sure to approve comments when they arrive in your emails. You must approve them first before they will appear publicly in your child's gallery. 21st Century skills that students will learn by having comment buddies are listed below: *Appropriate Digital Citizenship *Art Appreciation *How to self promote published online works *Art and Literacy Connections *How to use various forms of technology to communicate on a global scale with peers *How to manage an online portfolio *How to navigate online in a social platform. *How to use the internet for inspiration and as a learning tool.

We used google art project to help my 5th grade students learn from the masters while creating their self-portraits in a 3/4 pose. The interactive whiteboard gave them a chance to turn the paintings into contour line drawings. Take a look at my shared collection of paintings in google art project: http://goo.gl/Fe41H

Our iPads are in OS5 so I wanted to make a tutorial showing exactly what steps students need to go through to use the ipads to write comments to our buddies. Make sure you follow the directions and turn the ipads back to airplane mode when finished.

I love Artsonia's artist statement feature. However, I am not willing to spend hours typing my student's hand-written comments. Instead, use a Google Form to quickly gather typed statements in one place ready to copy/paste into Artsonia!

I am often asked about the process I use to upload artwork to Artsonia. Here is a time lapse of me processing a batch of finished art. 1.I label the artwork with first names 2. Upload to computer, label by name-grade-project, crop/enhance 3. I export to a folder (and in their working digital portfolios-not shown) 4. Drag and drop the folder into Artsonia's superuploader 5. Assign images to student (brighten or auto enhance as needed)
