This film could not have been made without the amazing people of OFSK(Oslo Skydiving Club). After finishing our first project of 2013 "Juggernaut", we had absolutely no idea what we would do next. We took a 6 month break and did everything but making films. A lot of things where happening in our daily lives. We both had to complete high school and we both did. When the summer came we looked back at our five years of making films and wondered for a moment what would come next. We decided that the ideal project for us would be a film about skydiving. Thinking back at our childhood, nothing made us lift our heads more than watching a skydiver crossing the skies. We started the shoot in july in Rena, Hedmark in Norway. We worked with the Norwegian skydiving club called OFSK. They gave us a lot of possibilities in therms of getting as close to the action that was happening on the ground and in the air. For the aerial perspectives we knew that we wouldt be able to get our DSLRs up in the air with the skydivers. We therefore used gopro material from the skydivers helmet cams in order to get in to the action. Wave Off would never have happened without the care and assistance given to us by OFSK and their jumpers. We met a lot of nice people there that made our job a lot easier. Whether they shared their own personal go pro clips with us or willingly stood up infront of the camera and became a part of Wave Off. Most of the go pro clips in the film was material we received from OFSK. Even though we could`nt use DSLRS when shooting aerial of the skydivers, we managed to use a dslr(5D mkii) on a steadicam while in the back of an As350 (Helicopter) and that resulted in some shots that almost looks like they could have been shot with expensive equipment. We spent four days living in a tent just a few feet of the runway. The good thing about small airports like this one is that there is almost no limit for how close you can get to the planes. One of the shots that i`m really proud of is the shot with the plane landing on the runway in the beginning of the film. The wing passes just about 3 feet away from the lens of the camera. So after a heated discussion between us and the pilot afterwards it all was worth it. I think that particular shot might become one of our most memorable clips in the future. In editing Wave Off we had a lot of material to process. We had mounted gopros almost everywhere and acctually filled up a one terabyte hard-drive with clips. We decided early on that Wave Off would be less than ten minutes long because We believe that having it any longer than that would result in people losing attention. There was a lot of clips we shared in the trailers that didn`t make it in to the final cut of Wave Off. It`s of course a bit depressing not getting to show you everything we have shot, but it is better to only present the best and brightest rather than having large segments of the film filled with less interesting shots. Wave Off is our final project of 2013 and it will probably be quite a while until we return again. The question is what are we going to do next? Thanks for watching Wave Off.

We started talking about doing some projects together in the future. Firestorm Productions wanted to bring better visual composition and style to their projects. Typical for extreme sport films are that you either see great stunts shot with poor camerawork, or daft stunts with amazing camerawork. We would like to give you the best of both worlds. "Wave Off" premieres december 1st and content from Wave Off will take part in the television show "Wild Spirits".

Join us on Facebook!!!!!!!! : https://www.facebook.com/firestormproductions I take no credit for the soundtrack of this film. This video shows the work that goes into the making of our film "Wave Off". We want wave off to be a visual adventure and by using both VFX and colorcorection we try to incorporate the particular look we want. If there is an element in a scene that is bugging us, we`ll go in and remove it. Another thing we are trying to do is to have a great selection of colors in our film. We are only showing you the very few clips we are finished with and nothing more. We have so many scenes left and I`m glad we have until december, because we are going to need it.

Join us on Facebook!!!!!!!! : https://www.facebook.com/firestormproductions "Juggernaut" means "an unstoppable force", and that is exactly what the Hilux Pickup truck is on ice covered roads. We approached this project with the idea of showing a pickup truck doing drifting and breakslading at various locations. The look of the Hilux truck on ice reminded us of the carton "Bambi" in that the driver has no control what so ever. Another big challenge was the lighting on this project. We were shooting this at the time of the year where the day is dominated by darkness. We didn't have any external lighting systems. Having this in mind we knew we where going to have to find a way to deal with the night time cinematography. We started out early by prioritizing the shutter speed. We tried shooting this at 1/160s, but found that the 16-35L series lens with an aperture of 2,8F didn't provide the sensor with enough light. So we went to the fastest of lenses we had available (50mm F1,4). We pushed the shutterspeed down to 1/60s and 1/50s. I dont really like operating with that low shutter speed, but due to the circumstances we had to do so. We where able to vary the iso/asa from 1600-4000 depending on the light. For certain shots (like the one where the snowmobile passes behind the hilux) we where able to have a shutter-speed of 160/s due to the light. One of the weaknesses with the 5D mkii is that you cant shoot raw video with it. That means you can't correct to the same extent as you can with other cameras the white balance, sharpness, contrast and such in post. You shoot a jpeg sequences on the 5D, and jpeg means that the image already have been rendered with the setings mentioned above. Any changes you do with the temperature in post is layered above the original layer and often makes a goofy result. We had to be cheerful with the WB, especially at high ISO/ASA performance. We experienced that having the correct WB also hides noise better in the texture of every frame. In colorgrading "Juggernaut", we did extremely few changes to the color in the particular scenes. I don't like the look of yellow street lights when you can see a lot of noise in that frame so we tried to turn down the temperature in the highlights. The result of that was quite successful. The color yellow tends to light up the areas where noise is represented, so turning down the temperature in the highlights made noise go away. Juggernaut is a film that we shoot over a time period of one day and in dark conditions. It`s the kind of film where we just had to make the best of what we had. I am quite satisfied with the finished result and believes that it is good beginning of an amazing year.
