from Mark White Productions Added 27 0 0

See the campaign: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/project-infrascape-journey-into-the-invisible-pt2 The Project. We started this project last year with the intention of creating the most comprehensive infrared photo series (see video) of the US natural wonders that the world has ever seen. With your help and a research grant from our University, we set out to study four national parks: Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and the Badlands. We returned home with bright eyes, inquisitive minds, a renewed spirit for adventure, and a great sense of pride and accomplishment for some truly astounding results! Since then, the photos were on display at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County's Annual Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day and a 30-page academic research article was submitted for publication. This year, we don't have the grant to lean on, but we'll be pushing forward with the project! This project act as research to satisfy Mark's last six academic credits in order to secure his degree. We'll add six more destinations to the list that'll surely add breadth to the project: Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Redwoods, Olympic, Banff, and Waterton Lakes. We'll also be revisiting Glacier and Yellowstone for further study. (This year's map) This journey will be far from a vacation. Long hikes through dangerous terrain with loads of equipment, coupled with the natural threats of wildlife, weather, and, let's face it, human error, provide opportunity for a grueling experience. If we learned anything from last year, it's that the results are more than worth it! The Money. Unfortunately for our wallets, neither of us drives a Prius. This journey will take us 8,000 miles across the US and Canada, so gas will be a huge expense (almost $1,000 alone!) We're cutting corners everywhere we can to make sure we can get the best bang for our, and your buck. That includes the everyday luxuries like sleep. Every bit of the goal will go toward affording camping fees, and paying the locals to sleep in their bathtubs throughout the 21 day journey. We were very fortunate to meet quite a few kind host families last year, and we want to meet you too! Any contributions made after the goal has been met will go toward enhancing the experience. Some ideas we've had so far are adding destinations or spending longer at each destination! The Reward System. We're offering some great rewards for everyone involved, and this year, we're handing over the power to you! We've created a new system that allows you to choose your own package of rewards. You know best what size and quantity will work as beautiful wall art in your home or personal collection, and we want you to have everything that you want! This year, we are using a token reward system. Each level of reward affords the contributor- you!- a certain amount of tokens. Token amounts can be compounded and added up to make sure you get the perfect package for you! Once you have your tokens, you may choose to cash them in on whichever combination of rewards you'd like! When the project is complete, we will allow you special access to the image gallery, so you can choose exactly which images you love. All images will be professionally printed on 100% acid free archival paper with pigment-based inks. We are also offering your image to be electronically infused directly onto metal. Printing on metal provides an incredibly durable image that, like archival paper prints, will never fade. Metal prints provide a depth of color to mimic life with a brilliance unique to the medium. Metal prints will come with pre-installed wall mounts and will not require any framing! These prints are 100% weather, water, spill, etc proof and really are fantastic. How You Can Help. 1. Contribute to the project by choosing one of the rewards on the right! 2. Like, follow, and share our social media pages: #projectinfrascape https://.facebook.com/projectinfrascape https://instagram.com/projectinfrascape/ https://twitter.com/MWPProductions 3. We are still looking for places to stay for nights along our trail. If you think you or someone you know has an extra spot we could pitch a tent or share a bed with Fido for a night, please let us know! The Artists. We are Sarah and Mark. We're Baltimore-based photographers, adventure-seekers, and best friends. We both graduated from university with our Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography and have made it our mission to do, see, and learn all that we can. To see more of Mark's work, please visit his website, blog, and facebook page.
