pan SRUC seminar by Dr Rodney Beard, Glasgow University on 28th of November 2013. When do higher disease prevalence’s lead to increased demand for prevention; using a game theoretic model to explore the prevalence elasticity of prevention? Behavioural epidemiological and economic epidemiological models of disease dynamics have employed game theoretic models to examine how behavioural feedbacks impact the spread of disease. The majority of these models employ formulations of differential population games in which individuals contact decisions are specified in an ad-hoc manner in order to endogenize the transmission rate of the disease. The prevalence elasticity of prevention has been proposed in the economic epidemiology literature as a way of capturing individual responses to the spread of a disease. Increased disease prevalence could prompt a greater demand for prevention or lead to a ‘fatalistic’ reduction in prevalence. We show using a differential game model of livestock disease based on a Anderson-May type model that whether or not prevalence response arises depends on the information structure of the model

A short non-fiction film covering the subject of 'Behavioural Addiction'. The media often portrays addiction as mostly substance addiction, without much coverage of the other side of addiction; behavioural. We conducted vox pops and interviews and found that most people when asked about addictions purely replied with answers such as 'smoking' and 'alcohol'. We felt that this would be a good topic to shoot for as we believe that the public need to be informed more about what they may not know can be an addiction. Shot using a Sony EX3 and Canon 550D. Edited using Final Cut Pro and Pro Tools.
