Some of the amazing shooters in attendance were Vincent Laforet, Carson Garner, John Carr, Ben Wiggins, Mike Flores, Drew Walker, Shawn Reeder, Dustin Kukuk, Nilo Merino Recalde, and Mike Goveia. The group worked alongside astro-timelapse master, Tom Lowe as he captured insane DSLR motion controlled shots for his upcoming film, TimeScapes. Kessler University sponsored the trip and I shot a BTS of the few days were were there. Big thanks to Eric Kessler for putting this trip together.+ More details

In the summer 2011 ILP was awarded a massive sequence for the upcoming Norwegian feature film "Kon-Tiki" directed by Joachim Roenning and Espen Sandberg. The film is about the legendary explorer Thor Heyerdal's epic journey crossing the Pacific on a balsa wood raft in 1947. Our sequence takes place during a major emotional peak of the movie, as the crew struggles with internal conflicts while facing a critical situation involving white sharks. ILP delivered 58 shots in total, with plenty of hero shots and some extremely complex fully computer generated scenes. This is a VFX breakdown giving you a closer look at some of shots we made. An introduction to the film’s three crew members: Olan, Olivier, and Jef; who all flew out from Belgium to work on this small, indie production. My time on the road with them taught me so, so much… It was an experience I will never forget – and never really know how to properly put into words. www.wearevivida.co.uk/workshops/ Filmed some months ago, this video follows myself and members of the VIVIDA team as we create a SAME DAY EDIT. Doing this was truly terrifying. At one point I really wanted to curl up into the fetal position in the middle of the dance floor. We had to film and edit the video to played before the bride and grooms (Sundeep & Diana's) entrance. The day wasn't all smooth and easy sailing due to losing a lot of time because of the complications that come with Asian Weddings! Our day would feature a Hindu ceremony and a Church ceremony. We would need to film and edit simultaneously. This is hard, but even harder when we have 2 ceremonies and a change of location. Our team work with Canon DSLRs (Canon 5D MKIIs) and a number of supporting pieces of equipment. We used a Steadicam Pilot, a glidetrack, monopods and a Hero. For the Same Day Edit (SDE) we used Final Cut Pro 7. Though we would now use FCPX for speed. Transcoding added another unnecessary step to the workflow. FCPX is just great for skimming clips and using them right away. My heart was pumping so hard at some points, that I thought I was going to need to call on one of the many doctors present as guests. We survived! A special thanks as always to my full team. On this particular day the photography wasn’t done by myself but by another photography team not related to VIVIDA. Enjoy. As always, I welcome any questions posted here or sent directly. The projection mapping "bioluminescent forest" is made by artists Friedrich van Schoor and Tarek Mawad. The artists spent six weeks in the forest fascinated by the silence and natural occurrences in nature, especially the phenomenon "bioluminescence". They personified the forest to accentuate the natural beauty by creating luring luminescent plants and glowing magical mushrooms that speaks volumes to any visitor that enters the minds of the artists through viewing "bioluminescent forest".
