Their conversations about love and life and everything under the sun began seventeen years ago. In "Before Sunrise" (1995) an American man, Jesse, met Frenchwoman Céline on the train to Vienna. They spent the whole night walking the Viennese streets, philosophising, arguing and flirting. At sunrise they parted on the railway platform, promising to meet again. Their paths didn't cross until nine years later, in "Before Sunset" (2004). This time, the pair spent a day in Paris discussing their unhappy relationships and rediscovering their feelings for each other. In "Before Midnight" we discover that Jessie and Céline have stayed together and are now spending a holiday in Greece with their daughters. The world of emotions is still their preferred topic of conversation, but it is now their own relationship which is put to the test. The daily grind has certainly left its mark. Once again the actors have collaborated on the screenplay; once again, all human life is here in their dialogue and, once more, the end is uncertain. Can a romantic night in a hotel save their love?

Jon Martello is the best puller in the disco and can, at the end of any given evening, take home the women to whom his mates have given the highest scores on a scale of one to ten. But Jon doesn't get down to his real passion until his weekend conquests have disappeared. That's when he opens up his laptop and treats himself to one wank after another. So far so good. But then he comes so deeply under the spell of one young woman that he allows her to overturn his life. His passion for pornography, lack of enthusiasm for his family and even his aggressive driving -- all change. And no wonder, when the beautiful new woman in his life is played by none other than Scarlett Johansson. In record time she transforms Jon into a bourgeois average joe. If only there wasn't the secret porn addiction -- even after a breathtaking night with his dream woman. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, lead actor and director of this gaudy satire about sex, eroticism and middle-class mores, pushes self-mockery to the limits until his hero finally falls into the arms of a woman who loves him.

Taiwan's official contender for Oscar nomination, Ming-Liang Tsai's latest outrageous blend of sex, comedy, musical and drama went down a storm at the London Film Festival, leaving some audience members completely stunned. Daring, controversial and very funny. Taiwan is beset by a terrible water shortage. TV stations are advising the population to economise drastically, and to drink watermelon juice. But, as always, people are finding their own solutions to the drought. Shiang-Chyi secretly fills discarded bottles in public toilets, while Hsiao-Kang takes midnight baths in rooftop storage tanks. They drift like clouds, never touching. Survival is hard, but loneliness is impossible to bear. Shiang-Chyi finds a watermelon, and on the same day encounters Hsiao-Kang. She remembers buying a watch from him when he worked as a street vendor. He's a porno actor now, but she doesn't know that yet... Surreal, erotic, outrageous, The Wayward Cloud is a ravishing, vibrant, truly original musical from the internationally-acclaimed director of "Goodbye", "Dragon Inn" and "The River".
