Up-close video footage I shot of Makepisi, a male leopard we encountered on our first game drive during a photographic safari at Motswari Private Game Reserve in the Timbavati region of greater Kruger Park, Mpumalanga province, South Africa. Makepisi (roughly pronounced "Muh-keh-peez") means "hat" in the Tsonga language. We found Makepisi on another game drive nearly 48 hours later, in almost the same location at which we found him the first time. In this video footage, Makepisi is sitting on a termite mound only several metres away from us. It was late afternoon, and night was rapidly approaching. As the sun went down, we continued to observe and photograph Makepisi, lighting him with a spotlight as darkness fell.

Hi there! I've been working on a Big Cat Anatomy Sculpture for a few months now. My intention was to create a model for artists and students interested in learning animal anatomy. This is a tool that can help with understanding the complexity of big cats anatomy. Professionally I am an animator and anatomy consultant at Dreamworks Animation. Given my background and experience I felt compelled to sculpt the lioness. The prototype is done and I've started a Kickstarter campaign that will allow me to produce my sculpture. If you are interested, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1913733791/big-cat-anatomy-sculpture-lioness Please help get the word out about this Big Cat. Thanks for your support.

A selection of (low-res) footage from my 3 months following Alice, an African leopard in South Luangwa national park. Alice has raised several sets of cubs in her 14 years, now no doubt nearing the end of her life, the cubs she was raising whilst I was there are likely her last contribution to the population of leopards in the South Luangwa valley. Filmed with Canon 7D & 1DX.
